A broken collarbone was not going to stop Eddie Dunbar last year. Especially since he had dealt with the same situation the year before during a respectable season that earned him a pair of national titles and a roster spot with the Axeon Hagens Berman Cycling Team.
"Obviously when you break your collarbone – like I have done the past two years in a row – you miss out on quite a bit," the reigning Irish Under 23 time trial champion said. "In terms of training, I know how to get my body into shape. I know how to get it ready to race right away."
Winning the last stage of An Post Ras in his home country in his first race back from the injury was certainly proof of that, as was a top 10 finish at the season-ending Under 23 world time trial championships. So besides staying healthy and out of the hospital this season, what else is on his agenda?
"I just want to race as much as I can," he said. "It would be nice to do something at the Amgen Tour of California and in Utah in August. I really enjoyed going that race last year."
