Continuing it’s five year connection with Portugal, Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling Team is pleased to announce the signing of the 2018 Portuguese Junior National Road Race champion, Pedro Andrade. The 19-year-old from Santa Maria da Feira joins Axeon from Vito-Feirense-Pnb.

“Joining Hagens Berman Axeon is a dream come true,” said Andrade. “I'm very motivated to start competing and helping the team.”

Since his 2018 national championship, Andrade earned a victory at stage 4 of the 2019 Gp Abimota. He was recently 3rd in the general classification at Volta a São Miguel as well as 3rd at Volta as Terras Santa Maria. In Getxo, Spain, Andrade earned a top 20 placement at Circuito de Getxo (1.1).

Exceling on both short and long climbs, he hopes to aid the team when he’s called upon. The versatile rider will also look to make short group sprints count, something at which he is surprisingly fast. Andrade will focus on improving his time trialing and technical skills throughout the 2020 season.

Andrade is the fourth rider to join the 2020 Axeon roster after Jens Reynders, Jarrad Drizners, and Michael Garrison.
