Colin Joyce Top 20 In Worlds Road Race

Doha, Qatar – American Colin Joyce, in 16th place, was the top finisher from the Axeon Hagens Berman Cycling Team Thursday at the Under 23 UCI World Road Race Championships.

The bunch sprint finish at the end of the 165.7-kilometer race was won by Norway's Kristoffer Halvorsen. Pascal Ackermann of Germany was runner-up and Italy's Jakub Mareczko took the bronze.

U.S. professional road champion Greg Daniel represented Team USA in a nine-man breakaway that was brought back in the final 10 kilometers of the 10-lap race around a circuit in Doha.

Other finishers for the Axeon Hagens Berman team were: Justin Oien (United States) 37th, Krists Neilands (Latvia) 39th, Tao Geoghegan Hart (Great Britain) 45th, Eddie Dunbar (Ireland) 49th, Neilson Powless (United States) 54th, Geoffrey Curran (United States) 116th, and Daniel in 126th.

Thursday's competition concludes the 2016 season for Axeon Hagens Berman. A team-record 33 races were won, including seven national titles.
