It’s not uncommon for a road cyclist to have a background in mountain biking, cross country, or track. But track and skiing? It’s nothing out of the ordinary for Colorado native and U.S. U16 National Champion in skiing and track, Colby Lange. Colby joins Hagens Berman Axeon from Wildlife Generation Pro Cycling.
“Joining Hagens Berman Axeon is an awesome opportunity for me to learn and grow in a truly special environment,” Colby said. “It’s an awesome step forward to my ultimate goals in cycling. I’m super excited to work with all of the amazing people In this program. I have no doubt it will be an incredible experience.”
The 21-year-old is coming off a very shortened 2020 season due to Covid19, but was able to finish in 28th place in a very tough Malaysian International Classic Race.
Sport director Koos Moerenhout is looking forward to the addition of Colby on the roster adding, “with Colby’s track background, he has the ability to really focus and stay locked in to the finish. He excels in the crosswinds and has an eye for breakaways and time trials.”
For 2021, Colby wants to improve on his efficiency in races and work as effectively as possible in a team setting. “I’ll be focused on learning as much as I can about the European racing scene,” he said.
