Left without a racing season in 2020 due to covid19, Simon Jones, the “small, punchy rider with a fast finish” from Milwaukee, WI, might be the rider most ready to PROVEIT in 2021 as he joins the Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling Team. Simon comes to Axeon by way of Hincapie / LEOMO p/b BMC.
“For me, joining Hagens Berman Axeon means getting the opportunity to showcase how much I’ve grown as a bike racer since my last races in 2019,” said Simon.
Boasting of one of the most unique accolades in professional cycling, Simon argues that his “height to bottle carrying ability ratio” is one of the most impressive. He is a great teammate who looks forward to bringing a good atmosphere to the team. For 2021, the 21-year-old hopes to improve his ability to compete in races with more climbing and general strength and comfort in European racing.
“Simon is our second rider coming over from the now defunct Hincapie/Leomo team,” said sport director Jeff Louder. “I expect Simon to bring his experience as a 4th year U23 rider to the team to help get results for himself and the team. He has the power to go for results himself and I think he will be a great addition to the team, not only as an individual, but as a teammate. I am excited to see what this new opportunity brings for Simon and expect him to capitalize and make the most of it during his development as a pro rider.”
