Hagens Berman Axeon is excited to announce the first signing of the 2022 season, Kasper Andersen. The 2020 Junior European Road Race champion joins Axeon from the Danish Continental team ColoQuick.

“I am happy to take another step in my career into such a good team,” said a thrilled Kasper. “I have always admired Hagens Berman Axeon, and to be part of the team in 2022 is a dream coming true and a boost for my confidence. I hope to make a lot of steps to becoming a better cyclist and a more wholesome person with Hagens Berman Axeon.”

The 19-year-old from Copenhagen, Denmark added another title in 2020 when he became the Junior European champion on the track in the madison. In 2021, Kasper earned a spot on the podium in his first ever UCI race at the Tour of Funen (1.2) finishing in third place.

Kasper enjoys a variety of racing, particularly difficult and long races with some hills and shorts climbs. He is also not deterred by crosswinds as he has endured them his whole life living in Denmark. The young Dane will be a great compliment to the team as he is a rider who maintains a good sprint even at the end of a hard race and finds, “the harder the race, the better I am in the final,” said Kasper.

“I look forward to working with some new, clever, and ambitious people who can help me become better on the bike, but definitely also off the bike with food, mental strength, and more,” he said.

“We are excited to welcome Kasper to the team,” said team owner and director Axel Merckx. “He has proven he has the potential to make it to the World Tour and we are thankful he chose us to continue and help his development.”

Kasper is the first rider to join the 2022 Axeon roster.
