Axeon Hagens Berman is excited to announce the signing of 19-year-old, Belgian Jasper Philipsen. Philipsen joins Axeon from BMC Development Team, who announced that they would be ending their development program at the end of the year.

“Hagens Berman Axeon has the experience with young guys like me and I’m sure this is a good step for me. I’m looking forward to taking this adventure,” said Philipsen.

Philipsen started the 2017 season off with a bang, winning Le Triptyque des Monts et Chateaux, then finishing 2nd at Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders), and a week later finishing 2nd at ZLM Tour. He didn’t stop there. Philipsen went on to win stages at the Giro d’Italia U23, Tour of Alsace, and Olympias Tour. As if that weren’t enough, Philipsen capped off the season with a remarkable win at Paris-Tours U23.

“I’m very excited to get Jasper on the team,” said Director Axel Merckx. “I saw him win a stage at the ‘Baby Giro’ and he just won Paris-Tours U23. His Development has been very impressive so far and I hope he will grow even more next season.”

Philipsen is the fourth rider to join the 2018 Hagens Berman Axeon roster.
