Hagens Berman Jayco is proud to announce the signing of David Gaffney, one of Ireland’s brightest young cycling talents, for the 2026 season. Gaffney joins the team after a standout year that included 2nd on a stage and the Mountain Classification title at the Gipuzkoa Klasikoa (2.1), along with 4th overall at La Ronde Des Vallées (2.1) and several top-10 finishes across Europe.
Gaffney also made history for Ireland at the 2025 European Championships, where he delivered a career-defining ride to claim bronze in the junior men’s road race, the nation’s first ever medal in the event.
“I am really excited to join Hagens Berman Jayco,” said Gaffney. “It’s a team I’ve followed and admired growing up, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to continue developing as a rider in such a professional environment. I’m looking forward to helping the team however I can, on and off the bike.”
Team owner Axel Merckx praised the young Irishman’s potential: “David has shown impressive consistency and composure at a young age. His result at the Europeans proved his ability to perform under pressure, and we’re confident he’ll thrive and continue to grow within our program.”
With his mix of climbing ability, race intelligence, and international experience, Gaffney is set to be a strong addition to Hagens Berman Jayco’s 2026 lineup.
