The Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling Team is thrilled to announce the addition of Hamish McKenzie to the 2024 roster. Hamish joins Axeon from ARA – Pro Racing Sunshine Coast [Team Jayco-AlUla trainee from 8/1].

“Joining Hagens Berman Axeon is a huge step in my development as a cyclist,” said Hamish. “Axel and the team have proven that they’re among, if not the best at developing talent and I’m confident I’ll get the best out of myself in a team such as this. To have sports directors such as Koos and Axel is such an advantage to the team and I can’t wait to learn as much as possible and win some races!”

Hamish’s Palmares:
2023
3rd place World Championships U23 - ITT
5th place Oceania Continental Championships - Elite Road Race

2022
2nd place World Championships U19 - ITT
1st place Australian National Championship U19 - ITT

The 18-year-old from Launceston, Tasmania, Australia is hoping to capitalize on his strengths, time-trialing, bunch sprint finishes, and short climbs in “fighting for victories in road races and especially the classics,” he said. “I am excited to get to do the biggest U23 races and get more stage racing in the legs.”

“Hamish has proven to be a very solid rider and his 3rd place at U23 Worlds in the time trial showed that,” said team owner and director Axel Merckx. “I saw Hamish race aggressively at the Tour of Bretagne and I like his way of racing. I really believe he has what it takes to make it to the next level. He needs more racing experience in Europe and we will give him just that.”

Hamish is the second rider added to the Hagens Berman Axeon Cycling Team’s 2024 roster.
