Axeon Hagens Berman is proud to announce that the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has approved its application to become a UCI Professional Continental Team for the 2018 season. The team will ride under the name Hagens Berman Axeon and will remain an Under-23 development team to continue its focus on developing young riders through to the top level of the sport.

Team Director Axel Merckx views the upgrade in status from Continental to Pro Continental as an important one that will have a positive, sweeping affect not only on riders, but on the staff and management as well.

“For us, it’s another major step in the growth of the program and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of Steve Berman and his firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, that stepped up so we can be Pro Conti,” said Merckx.

With the UCI Professional Continental status comes additional exposure and the chance to participate in larger races.

“The large, competitive races are obviously very important for us to be a part of in the United States moving forward,” said Merckx. “The program is as strong as ever, and the move will give us the opportunity to participate in additional races throughout the season.”

“The team’s transformation as it grows is thrilling, and we’re proud to partner with a team as dedicated to excellence as we are,” said Steve Berman, managing partner and co-founder of the national plaintiffs law firm sponsoring the team.
