Track junior world champion, Rubén Sánchez, is the latest rider to sign with the Hagens Berman Jayco Cycling Team for 2025. Rubén joins the team from Cafés Baqué.
“Joining Hagens Berman Jayco is a great opportunity that I’ve been dreaming about all of my life, being able to become a professional cyclist, making a place for myself in this world, and being part of a great cycling team and achieving many triumphs,” said Rubén.
Rubén’s Palmares:
2nd place Elimination Race 2024 World Junior Track Championships
1st place Elimination Race 2024 European Junior Track Championships
1st place Elimination Race 2023 World Junior Track Championships
1st place 2022 Spanish Junior Road Race National Championships
Flat terrain and medium mountains are the favorites of the 18-year-old from Alcalá de Henares, Spain. “They are my favorites and I think I am very good at them,” he explained. “If we reach the finish line in a large or small group sprint, I am very good.”
“Next season, I hope to improve in all aspects,” he said. “I know I am just 18 years old and I think I have a lot to learn. The way to compete in the professional world is very much as a block, with a team strategy and each performing a role within that block. On a personal level, and with the help of the team, I hope to be able to improve my times to the finish line and achieve some victories.”
“Historically, we seldom have true sprinters on the team so we are excited to add such a fast rider,” said team owner and director Axel Merckx. “He has such high potential and I think combined with the other talent on our team, if we can position him to get to the finish line, and set him up well, he’s going to win some races. He’s super fast. ”
Rubén is the sixth and final rider scheduled to join the Hagens Berman Jayco Cycling Team’s 2025 roster after Wil Holmes, Jesse Kramer, Daniel Moreira, Will Eaves, and Carl Emil Just Pedersen.
