It was a weekend to remember for Hagens Berman Jayco, as the team’s U23 riders delivered standout performances at national championships across Europe, showcasing the depth and international reach of the development program.
Leading the charge was Daniel Moreira, who captured the Portuguese U23 Road Race title, riding away solo in the final kilometers to secure a memorable win in front of a home crowd. The victory marks a major milestone for the young climber and continues a strong season of progression.
In Ireland, Adam Rafferty powered to victory in the Irish U23 Time Trial, producing a dominant ride on a technical course to claim the national title. It was another breakthrough moment for the 20-year-old, who has consistently shown promise in the race against the clock.
Over in the United Kingdom, Ben Wiggins earned a hard-fought second place in the British U23 Time Trial, finishing just seconds off the winning time. Wiggins has had a consistent run of results in 2024, and this podium reinforces his growing reputation as one of the most well-rounded young riders in the peloton.
Rounding out the impressive weekend, Jesse Kramer secured second place in the Dutch U23 Road Race, surviving a selective and tactical race in one of the toughest national fields. The podium caps off a consistent summer for Kramer, who continues to build momentum in the European calendar.
Team owner and director Axel Merckx praised the squad’s results, saying:
“To have four riders from four different nations on the podium in their national championships is a reflection of the work we’ve put in this year. These results show the strength of the program, but more importantly, the character and commitment of our riders.”
With riders stepping up across time trials and road races alike, Hagens Berman Jayco continues to solidify its reputation as one of the premier development teams in the world.
