The Hagens Berman Jayco Cycling Team confirmed the signing of a second Italian rider, Mattia Sambinello, to the team in 2024. Mattia joined Axeon from Canturino 1902 A.s.d..
Straight forward and to the point, “for me it’s a dream joining this team,” said Mattia.
Mattia’s 2023 Palmares:
Trofeo Francesco Data - 1st place
GP Sportivi di Isola D'Asti - 1st place
Giro della Castellania - 1st place
GP Ticino - 1st place
GP Liberazione Citta di Massa Juniors - 2nd place
The 19-year-old from Vergiate, Italy hopes to learn a lot and earn some significant results. “I worked very hard at Liberazione di Massa and am proud of my second place finish,” said Mattia. “As a complete rider, being a sprinter but also a climber, I hope I can make an impact with the team. One of my highlights from 2024 was racing Paris-Roubaix. I learned a lot last season, but most importantly how to manage training with normal life as well as nutrition. For 2025, I hope to do some good results (podium or win) to forget what I've been through.
“Mattia has been consistent and getting stronger over the years,” said team owner and director Axel Merckx. “He has shown good test results and has a great mentality. I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to develop this season.”
